(November 97 - March 98)

(10,000klms)

As far as I am concerned this bike had a power to weight ratio which did not suit me on Australian roads, and even at the track. I always felt like I was riding on ice and never had any confidence in the bike or myself while riding it. I have spoken to many people who had one of these, or knew someone that did, who agree that they had some major suspension problems in the first of the new C series, but they tell me that these problems were sorted out in later models as refinements were made. This is good to hear, but I'd never buy another one, purely because my experiences over the short time I owned mine, where far too terrifying. I found that I rode MUCH, MUCH, slower on this bike than I ever did on the FJ. That's really saying something when you think about the enormous differences in power and weight between the two bikes. I still find it very hard to believe that I could have been that much slower on a much quicker, lighter, better handling bike, with so much more ground clearance and better tyres. It just goes to show you.

It was however, the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden. I could ride for 14 hours straight on it without getting sore at all. This is a major feat for me as I tend to get a very sore back and shoulders due to my strange shape and length, and I would say my riding style probably doesn't help either.

Insane acceleration, and speeds getting within a hair of 300kph.

Great bike for wheel stands and stoppies if you're into that sort of thing.
